geoMp3 of The Week: Wilco’s “Wilco the Song”

Colbert introducing Wilco the Song

I think this will be the first (and late!) of two consecutive Colbert tracks (assuming I can wrest something geographic out of last night’s beautiful “A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!”). This one is from October when esteemed indie darlings and long-time The Band wannabes Wilco stopped by Colbert Nation and premiered “Wilco the Song.” Frankly, unless Wilco is teaming with Billy Bragg I can’t bring myself to give two shits about them and their oh-so-interesting story about drug abuses and artistic stuttering. But if you’re willing to buy into the brutal poetry that is Colbert’s parody of everything stunted and backwards about American popular political culture, then you get a pass from me. Eh, Toby Keith? (Though you’ll always be unAmerican to me until you apologize to Natalie Maines for criticizing her government.)

Anyway, it’s another sketchy geoMp3 of The Week because I’m dropping this track right where it happened; 54th St between 10th and 11th.

“Wilco the Song,” The Colbert Report on 2008 October 30.

And the kml for all mp3s of the week.
